Specialist Physio in Dementia and Later Life
Leane has worked full time as a Chartered Physiotherapist in both hospital and community settings since qualifying in 2004 and has a special interest and particular expertise working with older adults. Leane obtained a Masters in Clinical Research focusing on dementia and has a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience working with those living with dementia.
The input from family members, carers and staff in residential or nursing homes when offering physiotherapy assessment and treatment is welcomed. This involvement is particularly valuable to give voice to patients who may have difficulty communicating their needs or lack capacity to make decisions around their care and treatment. Leane believes in a physiotherapy approach that reflects the needs of our older population when they experience a fall, injury, deterioration in health following an illness or when living with a long-term condition. Her approach is therefore sensitive, compassionate, goal orientated and inclusive. Leane's physiotherapy advice and treatment is aimed at helping each individual to work towards meaningful personal goals and the underpinning philosophy is to achieve an outcome that has a positive impact on an individual's quality of life.
